Copyright & Licensing

Celebes Nursing Journal (CNJ) is an open-access journal in which authors retain copyright in their published work. Unless otherwise indicated, articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0).
This policy defines copyright ownership, the non-exclusive publishing rights granted to CNJ, the conditions governing reuse of published content, the treatment of third-party materials, and author rights concerning reuse and self-archiving.

1. Copyright Ownership and Publishing Rights
Copyright in articles published by CNJ remains with the author(s), or other lawful copyright holder where applicable.
Authors do not transfer copyright to CNJ. By agreeing to publication, authors grant CNJ the non-exclusive right of first publication and the rights necessary to publish, reproduce, distribute, disseminate, archive, preserve, and make the article available as part of the journal's scholarly record.
These publishing rights are non-exclusive. Authors retain the right to use, share, reproduce, and incorporate their own work into subsequent scholarly or other works, subject to applicable third-party rights and any other legal obligations.
CNJ should be acknowledged as the original publication venue when the published article is subsequently reproduced or referenced.

2. Creative Commons License
Unless otherwise indicated, articles published in CNJ are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0).
Under this license, users may:

provided that the use is non-commercial and the applicable license conditions are followed.
Users must:

Users may not impose additional legal terms or technological restrictions that prevent others from exercising rights already granted under the CC BY-NC 4.0 license.
These conditions reflect the official terms of CC BY-NC 4.0, which permits both sharing and adaptation for non-commercial purposes subject to attribution and related license requirements.

3. Author Rights and Reuse
Because authors retain copyright in their work, CNJ does not restrict authors to the reuse rights granted to third parties under the CC BY-NC 4.0 license.
Authors may reuse their own published material in subsequent scholarly or professional works, including:

When reusing the published article or substantial portions of it, authors should appropriately acknowledge the original publication in CNJ and retain the DOI where applicable.
Reuse of third-party material contained within an article remains subject to the rights and permissions applicable to that material.

4. Third-Party Materials
Authors are responsible for ensuring that figures, tables, photographs, instruments, questionnaires, illustrations, text excerpts, and other third-party materials included in their manuscripts may lawfully be reproduced or adapted.
Where permission is required, authors must obtain the necessary authorization from the copyright holder before publication and provide evidence of permission when requested by the journal.
Third-party content that is not covered by the article's CC BY-NC 4.0 license must be clearly identified through an appropriate credit line, copyright notice, licensing statement, or other indication of its applicable terms of use.

5. Commercial Use and Permissions
The CC BY-NC 4.0 license does not authorize third parties to use CNJ-licensed material for commercial purposes.
Commercial reuse that is not otherwise permitted by law requires separate authorization from the applicable copyright holder(s).
Requests involving material owned by third parties must be directed to the relevant rights holder. CNJ cannot grant rights that it does not own.
Uses permitted independently under applicable copyright exceptions or limitations are not restricted by the Creative Commons license.

6. Self-Archiving and Version Sharing
CNJ supports author self-archiving. Authors may deposit permitted versions of their manuscripts in appropriate repositories and academic websites in accordance with the journal's Archiving Policy.
The published Version of Record may be shared. When it is shared, the article DOI, original publication information, and applicable CC BY-NC 4.0 licensing information should be retained.
Detailed provisions concerning preprints, accepted manuscripts, the Version of Record, permitted repositories, and long-term digital preservation are provided in the journal's Archiving Policy.
Information concerning immediate public access and reuse of CNJ articles is provided in the journal's Open Access Policy.

7. Copyright and Licensing Transparency
CNJ clearly identifies the copyright and licensing status of its published content. Copyright and licensing information should be displayed on published articles and associated publication records.
Any material subject to licensing terms different from the standard CNJ license should be identified accordingly.
This Copyright & Licensing Policy is reviewed periodically and may be updated in response to changes in the journal's publishing arrangements, applicable licensing framework, or relevant scholarly publishing standards.
